2011 (15U) Team- Coach Slater
Coach Chris Slater has 25+ years of coaching experience, Level 5 USA Hockey certification, and ISSA personal trainer credentials. His philosophy emphasizes long-term growth, purposeful competition, and straightforward advice for athletes and families.
Slater played professionally as a defenseman, won an ECHL championship, earned All-Star honors, attended Detroit Red Wings training camp, competed at Michigan State and Western Michigan University, participated in two U.S. Olympic Festivals, and represented Team USA internationally.
2011 (15U) Team - Coach Curtin
Coach Scot Curtin, owner of Scot Curtin Skating & Skills, is a former Detroit Catholic Central State Champion and the 1997 Michigan Mr. Hockey recipient. Following his high school success, he played at Middlebury College, where he became a two-time NCAA D3 National Champion. Coach Curtin also brings valuable NCAA coaching experience and has dedicated numerous years to developing hockey players of all ages, sharing his expertise and passion for the game.
2012-13 (14U) Team - Coach Bond
Coach Jeff Bond is a long time Michigan AAA coach. A former NCAA D1 player at Western Michigan University, Coach Bond brings over 25 years of experience working with top AAA organizations throughout Michigan. He has also spent numerous years coaching at the Jr. A level, further honing his skills and knowledge of the game. Coach Bond enjoys teaching hockey fundamentals and theories to Greater Michigan Prospect players of all ages, fostering both their technical abilities and passion for the sport.

Ideal candidates have an NCAA playing background, a passion for developing highly skilled players, and a deep love for the game. 2014 (12U) Team - Coach Miller
Coach Kip Miller was born in Lansing, Michigan, and played college hockey for the Michigan State University Spartans. During his college career he registered 116 goals, 145 assists and 261 points, leading the CCHA in scoring for two consecutive seasons. Miller was awarded the Hobey Baker Memorial Award in 1990, the first Spartan to receive the honor. Miller's cousin, goaltender Ryan Miller, was the second Spartan to win the Hobey Baker Award in 2001. In all, ten members of Miller's family (including his brothers Kevin and Kelly) have played college hockey for Michigan State. Kip's other cousin and Ryan Miller's brother is Drew Miller who played for the Detroit Red Wings. During his twelve-year NHL career, Miller played for the Nordiques, Minnesota North Stars, San Jose Sharks, New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Washington Capitals.

2015-16 (U11) Team- Coach Dameworth
Coach Chad Dameworth former draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers, played professionally as a defenseman in the American Hockey League and ECHL. Before turning pro Chad was a 4 season D1 NCAA player for Northern Michigan University.
2015-16 (11U) Team- Assistant Coach Vail
Chris Vail is a former professional and NCAA Division I hockey player known for his leadership, work ethic, and competitive drive. A four-year standout at Wayne State University, he played a key role in three conference championships and the program’s only NCAA Frozen Four appearance. Prior to college, he developed with the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) and starred at Lawrence Academy, earning First Team All–New England honors.

What is a summer tournament team?
A summer tournament team is a select group of players who come together to compete in off-season tournaments, focusing on development, exposure, and high-level competition.
What are the costs?
It is $300 per tournament. Plus $50 for a reversible team jersey.
How many lines does the team have on the tournament rosters?
Each team has a maximum of 3 forward lines, 5-6 defenseman, and 2 goalies. Players may be asked to play numerous positions at times.
Where do we stay?
These tournaments are "Stay to Play". We will send out the link to reserve the hotel rooms 3-4 weeks before the tournament.
What is the commitment level?
Players do not have to commit to all three tournaments. However, during the selection process, availability and commitment will be taken into account.
How much ice time should your player expect?
We will follow a policy where it is essentially equal, except for special teams, playoff, and the last 5 minutes of a game.
Is this good for player development?
Yes, it provides additional ice time, exposure to different coaching styles, and the chance to compete against top-level players.
How do I apply or get selected?
Players typically apply online or attend a tryout/evaluation camp where teams are formed based on skill and fit.
Are practices included?
We will try to include a team practice or training session to build chemistry and prepare for tournament.
What must players bring?
We will order and provide team jerseys. Players must wear their own solid black hockey socks and bring a water bottle.
Will parents be able to view the team rosters?
Team rosters are posted on the website once we have everyone's jersey number and payment completed.
How many goalies are on the team and how are they played?
Typically we have two goalies per team that split time up unit the playoffs. What goalie plays during playoffs becomes a coaches decision. Goalies must learn to compete for their spot!

As part of Greater Michigan Prospects, athletes will benefit from strong coaching, structured systems, and a commitment to player development both on and off the ice.
TCS Big Red Lake Cup 2026
Join Greater Michigan Prospects for the TCS Holland Michigan Cup 2026, an exciting and competitive tournament held in Holland. That runs July 17 - 19.
Players can expect multiple games, high-energy competition, and a positive, competitive atmosphere throughout the tournament. This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself against quality opponents, build chemistry with teammates, and represent a respected program on the ice.
